The lifts stop running at 4, we met up shortly after 3…that left us with just enough time to squeak in 2 runs to get “the shot.” Halfway down the first run I knew I had it but we carried on and got a little adventurous for the next set of shots. We climbed up the side of a slope, into the forrest in waist deep snow and got some more great shots! At this point I think I’ve earned their trust and so my mind goes sideways and we got a little creative. How do you shoot a family portrait when the 2 kids are ski racers? I say to them: “Mom/Dad, you stand across from me, traditional portrait style…Kids, go as fast as you can in a tuck and stay close!” Done and done, super fun shot and an awesome way to wrap up a super fun shoot!
One thing I love about Active Family Photo is that I am welcomed into families, I get to hear their stories and just ride/ski. I had 2 runs with the Williamsons but I could have spent the whole day with them. Genuine people, great sense of adventure and a family bond that was contagious. This keeps happening at Alpine Ski Club, what a family friendly place!
